Our welcoming centre offers a wide range of free brochures, maps and event guides, with plenty of suggestions and friendly advice on what to see and do in Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion of our volunteer team is crucial to the Victor Harbor Visitor Information Centre. As part of the Visitor Information team, volunteers of all ages share their time and local expertise to help visitors get the most out of their stay.
As well as answering questions and suggesting activities, the main role of our volunteers is to meet and greet visitors, and to provide them with a warm and friendly welcome to Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Who are we looking for?
- Have a good local knowledge and are willing to learn more about the local, regional, and state tourism industry.
- Are good communicators and can interact well with people, both in person and on the telephone.
- Work well as a team.
- Can use a computer.
Are there any age limits?
You need to be at least 18 years old.
What are the main activities you will have to undertake?
As a volunteer, you will:
- Act as an ambassador for the area, welcoming visitors from around the world in a friendly manner.
- Answer questions posed by visitors to the centre, helping them to plan their activities.
- Continuously develop your knowledge base through training, familiarisation tours, and reading information pamphlets.
- Process merchandise sales when items are sold.
- Keep the counter and display areas neat and tidy, replenishing brochure piles as needed.
What training is provided?
All volunteers receive comprehensive introductory training and are paired with a ‘buddy’ for one to two months to help them settle in. Once orientated, volunteers are required to attend ongoing training sessions in order to keep up to date with changes within the Visitor Information Centre and the tourism industry.
How much time do you have to dedicate?
We ask that volunteers dedicate a minimum of four shifts per month. Each shift lasts four hours and is either from 9am – 1pm or from 1pm – 5pm.
