Canoe the Coorong showcases one of South Australia’s best kept secrets. Just 85 Km south of Adelaide finds you in the internationally recognised Coorong Wetlands where kayaking allows guests to experience the beauty of this unique waterway while gliding along at a the perfect pace to take in all the Coorong has to offer, including rare and migratory birds, New Zealand Fur Seals, the Mouth of the Murray River and the gorgeous sand dunes.
The Coorong Tour is a relaxing one-day all inclusive kayak tour of the Coorong and Murray Mouth region, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
The group departs from the end of Mundoo Channel Drive at 9am and concludes at approximately 3pm.(weather permitting).
The tour involves about three hours of kayak cruising, broken up with numerous stops and delicious local food.
We enjoy a gentle kayak to the Young Husband Peninsula where a bush tucker walk through the sand dunes gives an opportunity to stretch the legs.
On the beach the group searches for the Goolwa Cockle (Pipis, a tasty shellfish) which will be cooked to perfection by the guide as an entree before lunch (seasonal).
We then kayak to the mouth of the iconic Murray River before a short kayak back to Hindmarsh Island.
Canoe the Coorong offers guided tours of the Coorong for group bookings including schools, social groups and corporate days.
