Encounter History – History Month in Victor Harbor

The City of Victor Harbor has a great range of activities and events in store during May 2018.

Image: View of Adare, Victor Harbor, taken by amateur photographer O.B.Hutchinson in 1894 and enclosed in letter to his uncle Peter Orlando Hutchinson, of Sidmouth, Devon. The letter accompanying is dated 30 April 1894. On the back of the original Hutchinson has written “This shows the place where Mr Hindmarsh lived, of whom you have no doubt heard years ago. In the foreground is the bridge over the River Hindmarsh near its mouth. That river separates Mr Hay’s property from this, and if these two views be laid about 3 inches apart, this one on the right hand, it will give their approximate position. The distant hill is called Peeralilla, near to which we live. Sorry it is not a better photo.” Source: State Library of South Australia B-70610
